Labels
We see numerous stickers every day when we go online, shop or elsewhere. But what do all those labels really mean? Here we will show all the labels that we use and, not least, what they all mean. Then you can have peace of mind when you buy products at Coredesign, knowing what the labels stand for.
Climate neutral
Climate neutral is a label developed by the provider ClimatePartner. They have put together a project that calculates all unavoidable CO2 emissions created during production and offset them via a recognized, certified CO2 offset project. Companies can therefore acquire this label for their products if the products help offset the inevitable CO2 emissions.
CO2 neutral website
A website emits CO2, as it needs power to run the servers it hosts - but the visitors also use power. By reporting your website to IngenCO2 (as we at Coredesign have done), we help support their global CO2 neutralization work and at the same time neutralize our CO2 emissions from our website.
Fairtrade
Fairtrade ensures agreements that minimum wages and working conditions are respected. Not only that, the Fairtrade label also works to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their raw materials.
When you therefore choose products with the Fairtrade label, you ensure good conditions for both plantation workers and farmers.
But Fairtrade is much more than foodstuffs such as cocoa and sugar. It can also be cotton, for example. Here, Fairtrade certifies the farmers, and Fairtrade's aim is to tackle the unsafe and unfair working conditions that take place within the process of cotton.
FSC
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is the only labeling scheme for paper and wood and applies worldwide. When you buy products with the FSC label, the paper or wood comes from an FSC forest, where no more wood is felled than the forest itself can reproduce. Not only that, FSC is also a guarantee that animals and plant life are protected, while those who work there are trained and receive proper safety equipment and wages.
FSC and PEFC are both certification schemes to help ensure that paper and wood products come from responsible sources and that they comply with the EUTR - EU Timber Regulation.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX is an independent product label for all types of textile product testing for harmful chemicals. That is why the brand has also been given the nickname "Trust in textiles". To acquire this label, the ENTIRE product is tested for harmful substances in a laboratory. This means that zippers, buttons, sewing thread and fillings in duvets and pillows are also tested. Much more extensive requirements are made than those of the legislation, and the closer the material comes to the skin, the stricter the requirements.
